My New Job

I have a new job, and I start tomorrow. I'll be teaching two classes of high school Spanish at the little private school here in our new town. Boy 1 and Boy 2 go to school there, so it's the perfect thing for me. About three years ago, I became interested in learning Spanish so I could teach it to my boys. Very soon, I realized that I LOVED learning the language. Hopefully, next year I'll pick up a couple more classes and even write the Spanish curriculum for the entire school - they need it. So, I'll get to teach my own kids (eventually) plus many other kids. Super!
I'm not sure what I'm going to wear, and this is making me nervous. Having moved to south Georgia from Virginia, my summer wardrobe is not very extensive and mainly consists of short and t-shirts. Based on what I've seen other teachers at this school wearing, I won't need to be dressed up. But, I don't want to be too casual either. That wouldn't be very professional, in my opinion. It's a long time until it gets cool enough for me to pull out my fall and winter clothes, of which I have plenty. What should I do?

  1. Ooooo thanks for the heads up on KJP, I LOVE LOVE LOVE his bracelets.
That is so awesome that you will be teaching Spanish. It's nice to be able to be where your kids are as well. They love that you are there up until about high school and then they act like you're a total stranger if you smile at them or say hello. I'm a well trained mother now. If I see my kids in the hall ways I give a little eye brow raise or quick nod and then just walk on by.
Good luck in your new job, it'll be fun.

  2. Since I only have public school experience I cannot imagine not having some sort of dress code. Skirts and capris would be the most comfortable and summer stuff is on sale everywhere right now...Kohls, Belks, Macys. You could stop on the way home this weekend - lots of options along the way. Do you dress differently for HS than ES??? Just be thankful your boys are too young to care how their mother dresses or maybe boys never care...on the other hand girls are very critical of their mother's fashion sense...hard to believe, huh?
